Two Weeks After Your Regional Tournament: Global Finals?!?

Remember about a month back when I suggested that you talk to your team parents about the possibility of going to the State Tournament? Good - because you are going to have the same talk again but this one is on steroids. For those going to the State Tournament, you are faced with the very real possibility of being invited to Globals. Don't think it won't happen to you. My team stabbed me in the back, aced their IC and got invited despite having a weak technical element for their team challenge (their performance and Side Trips were quite good though).

One Week After Your Regional Tournament: State Finals?

Whether your team is advancing to State Finals or not, I encourage everyone to stop on by (if feasable) and watch some solutions to the challenge you did and the challenges you didn't. The Secondary teams are always worth watching. Seeing older, more sophisticated teams perform can give teams plenty of ideas for next year.

Can you please give an example or two for the difficulty level of the ICs at the State tournament. Especially as applicable to the Elementary School teams.

I hope everyone had a great time at their regional tournament. Your scores should be posted under «Region», above.

If your team is advancing to State Finals, remember you have to register the week after the regional tournament. You need an experienced appraiser and a volunteer.

How to participate

Create a User Account

The adults who help offer Destination ImagiNation in California — Team Managers, Appraisers, Volunteers, etc. — need a California Creativity user account to access the team/event sign-up pages.

Enter Team Information at California Creativity

After you Start a Team at ShopDI.org, and before you register your team for your regional tournament, you enter team information here at www.californiacreativity.org.

If you do not yet have an account, please first Create a User Account. You will also need your Team Number and DI Order Number from your ShopDI purchase.

When you're ready, hover over the ME! menu to bring up the submenus...

Register for a Tournament

When you follow the instructions to enter your team information, you may be pointed to these instructions to register for a tournament (otherwise, follow your region's instructions).

If you are signing up a team, and the tournament requires adult participation (e.g. team-supplied Appraiser, Volunteer), gather the name, email, and phone number for each adult before registering. If you don't have an email or phone number for someone, don't use yours. If you don't have either, you're not ready to proceed.

Appraisers get their own web pages: click here.
If you're not affiliated with a team but would still like to sign up at a tournament, please follow the instructions under the ACT menu tab above for Create a User Account and Register for a Tournament. You'll be an Appraiser, not a Team Manager. Leave the Team Number blank.

California Creativity Scholarships

California Creativity historically offers two different college scholarships:

The Creative Essay Scholarship, awarded based on youth "essays".
The Justin Kissel Scholarship, awarded based on adult nominations.

Scholarship applications must be received by March 27, 2010. Make a comment, below, if you have feedback. Contact the scholarship committee if you wish to send private comments or financially support the California Creativity Scholarships.
